"Surveillance" is the ninth studio album by Canadian hard rock band Triumph. Released on July 27, 1987, the album was the last one to feature the band's classic line-up of Rik Emmett, Gil Moore, and Mike Levine. It was recorded at Metalworks Studios in Mississauga, Ontario and produced primarily by Gil Moore. The album received generally positive reviews and was noted for its creative diversity.
Its tracks range from the anthemic "Never Say Never" to the poignant ballad "Long Time Gone," showcasing the band's musical prowess and versatility. Guest performers on the album include Steve Morse and Dave Trueman, underlining the collaborative aspects of the recording session. The single "Headed for Nowhere" was a reasonable hit on rock radio.
While it wasn't quite as successful as some of their previous albums, "Surveillance" still managed to chart reasonably well, reaching 73 on the Billboard 200. The album represents the end of an era for Triumph before Rik Emmett left to pursue a solo career. Today, it stands as one of the more innovative and sophisticated records in Triumph's discography and a testament to the band's musical capabilities.
