Nik Kershaw

"To Be Frank" is the sixth solo studio album by English singer-songwriter Nik Kershaw, released in 2001 in the UK and 2002 in the US by Koch Records. The album's only single, "Wounded," peaked at #100 on the UK Singles Chart. Critical reception was mixed. Jason D. Taylor, writing for AllMusic, felt that the album seemed more like an attempt to recapture past success rather than a bold step forward. He described it as a "faceless collection of material" that made him wonder if anyone still cared about Kershaw's music. On the other hand, David Medsker from *PopMatters* offered a more positive perspective. He noted that Kershaw had grown older and wiser, but more importantly, his music had become better. Medsker praised the album as one of Kershaw's most focused efforts, suggesting that despite the challenges, *To Be Frank* represented a stronger artistic statement from the singer-songwriter. Though the album didn't make a significant commercial impact, it showed Kershaw’s continued ability to evolve as a musician, despite the lack of widespread recognition.
