Octoberon is the seventh studio album by British rock group Barclay James Harvest, released in 1976. While maintaining the band’s signature style, it also further develops their symphonic prog rock sound. The album notably includes the excellent rock track 'Rock 'n Roll Star', dramatic 'Suicide?' with its stunning orchestration and choir, and the captivating 'Ra', which draws upon Egyptian mythology.
Octoberon is well-regarded as one of their finest efforts, with its artful blend of progressive, melodic rock and pop. Though it didn't achieve much commercial success in their homeland of the United Kingdom, it was well received in Germany where the band found a solid, dedicated fanbase. The album marked a key period in the band's career, bridging their early, more progressive era to a simpler, yet sophisticated pop sound of the late '70s. It highlighted the group's strength in crafting powerful melodies, thoughtful lyrics, and advanced instrumental passages.
