The Exploited

"Horror Epics" is the third studio album by the Scottish punk rock band The Exploited. Released in 1985, it marked a somewhat departure from the band's early punk roots. The album showcases a more crossover thrashmetal style with darker, heavier tones and themes. Produced by Ron Levine, it was massively influential within the hardcore punk genre. The Exploited, widely known for their anti-establishment stance, maintain this position throughout the album. The album's title track 'Horror Epics,' underscores its politically-charged message with its firm critique of then British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher. "Horror Epics" features thirteen tracks and the band lineup for this album includes Wattie Buchan on vocals, Billy Dunn playing bass, Karl Morris on the guitar, and Willie Buchan on drums. Some stand-out tracks from the album include "Horror Epics", "Don't Forget The Chaos", and "Law and Order". The album was re-released in 2004 by Captain Oi! Records, containing four bonus tracks. In terms of critical reception, "Horror Epics" is still regarded as a key album in The Exploited's discography due to its effort to establish the band's sound in a more metallic direction.
