"You Are Here" is the seventeenth studio album by British rock band UFO, which was released in March 2004. This album marks a significant change in the band's lineup as it's the first one not to feature longtime UFO bassist Pete Way. Instead, it has Barry Sparks filling in for bass duties. Way, unfortunately, had to step away due to health issues. After Michael Schenker also left the band, Vinnie Moore was welcomed as UFO's new lead guitarist.
The stylistics and sound of "You Are Here" are similar to the band's earliest heavy metal and hard rock roots. The album carries a total of 11 tracks, some of which are regarded as the band's finest, such as "When Daylight Goes to Town," "The Wild One," and "Mr. Freeze". The album received favorable reviews overall for its energetic and dynamic musicianship. It was praised for its range, with powerful ballads and hard-hitting rock numbers showcasing the band's versatile talent.
Produced by Tommy Newton, known for his work with Helloween and Victory, "You Are Here" was recorded at Area 51 Studios in Celle, Germany. The production was solid and well-received, helping UFO achieve a more modern sound. Despite the changes, "You Are Here" maintains the band's signature combination of power and melody, encapsulating the essence of classic British hard rock.
