UFO

"Mechanix" is the tenth studio album by the English rock band UFO, released in February 1982 by Chrysalis Records. In the pre-production phase, the band found themselves in a unique situation, with Asia practicing upstairs while they were in a smaller room downstairs. Paul Chapman noted that they often just sat around or went upstairs to listen to Asia, or down to the pub for a break. Neil Carter, the keyboardist, contributed some softer, keyboard-oriented ideas, which made bassist Pete Way uncertain about the direction of the album. However, Chapman acknowledged that the album does have its standout moments. The music press advertised the album with the tagline, "Mechanix: it will tighten your nuts." Following the tour for the album, founding member Pete Way left the band to join Fastway, a group formed by former Motörhead guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke. Mechanix was reissued in 1994 by Repertoire Records, and again in 2009, featuring remastering, an expanded booklet, and bonus tracks.
