Cactus

"Restrictions" is the third studio album by the American hard rock band Cactus. Released in 1971, the album signifies a transition in the band's musical style, evolving from their blues and rock roots to an amalgamation of hard rock and southern rock elements. Two of the album's most popular songs, "Token Chokin'" and "Alaska", showcase the distinct shift in Cactus' musical style. Despite its hard-hitting music and compelling lyrics, the album didn't achieve remarkable commercial success. The album features the line-up of the band with Tim Bogert on bass, Carmine Appice on drums, Jim McCarty on guitar, and Rusty Day on vocals. It was the last to feature this original line-up, as Bogert and Appice would leave the band to form Beck, Bogert & Appice with Jeff Beck. "Restrictions" is remembered for its raw energy, unique sound, and lively performances. While Cactus may not have reached the level of fame of some of their contemporaries, they were instrumental in forming the foundation of hard rock and heavy metal, and "Restrictions" is a testament to their pioneering spirit.
