"Heavy Cream" is a compilation album featuring material recorded by the British rock band Cream from 1966 to 1969. Primarily aimed at the North American market, it was released by Polydor Records to capitalize on Cream's back catalog after their recordings had previously been licensed to Atco/Atlantic Records.
Available as a double album from 1972 to 1976, it was briefly reissued by RSO Records in 1983. This compilation was released alongside three other double albums of solo material by Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, and Ginger Baker, all titled "... At His Best."
With 22 tracks, Heavy Cream offers one of the most comprehensive collections of Cream's work, including over two-thirds of their studio recordings. In a 1972 review for Newsday, Robert Christgau called it the best of the Cream compilations available at that time. The album peaked at No. 135 on the Billboard 200.
