"Grandine il vento" is the 13th studio album by the English progressive rock band Renaissance, first released in 2013 and re-released as Symphony of Light in 2014. The album was financed through a Kickstarter campaign.
After the band's split in 2002, they reunited for performances in 2009. Tragically, guitarist and composer Michael Dunford passed away from a cerebral hemorrhage in November 2012. A month later, vocalist Annie Haslam announced that the band would continue. In 2013, Ryche Chlanda was announced as the new guitarist.
The album was initially released online in April 2013, followed by a CD release, and is dedicated to Michael Dunford. The cover features a painting by Annie Haslam. It includes guest performances from John Wetton and Ian Anderson. The Japanese bonus track, "Carpet of the Sun," was recorded at NEARfest Apocalypse in June 2012. The album was reissued on April 15, 2014, by Red River Entertainment as Symphony of Light, featuring three additional tracks.
