"Wind on the Water" is the second album by Crosby & Nash, released in 1975 on ABC Records. Cassette and 8-track versions were distributed by Atlantic Records. The album reached No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and was certified gold by the RIAA. It produced three singles: "Carry Me," "Take the Money and Run," and "Love Work Out." Of these, only "Carry Me" charted, reaching No. 52 on the Billboard Hot 100.
After their summer 1974 tour, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young made a second attempt to create a new studio album, following an unsuccessful effort in 1973. While this effort did not materialize into a full album, the track "Through My Sails" was later included on Neil Young's 1975 album Zuma. The members then pursued individual projects: Young formed a new Crazy Horse lineup for Zuma, and Stephen Stills resumed his solo career with a new album in early 1975. Meanwhile, David Crosby and Graham Nash revived their partnership from their 1971 and 1973 tours and 1972 album. They signed a three-album deal with ABC Records, with Wind on the Water being the first album under this new contract.
