Jefferson Starship

Nuclear Furniture is the eighth studio album by the renowned rock band, Jefferson Starship. The album was released on June, 1984, by Grunt Records, marking a notable shift in the band's musical direction toward a more mainstream '80s sound. This transition was under the influence of producer Ron Nevison, resulting in one of the group's most commercially successful albums. The album consists of 12 tracks, including the chart-topping single "No Way Out." The songs on this album struck a chord with the music community for their catchy tunes and sharp, thought-provoking lyrics. The title "Nuclear Furniture" is a metaphor asserting that nuclear weapons have become a commonplace part of our life, just like furniture. The release of Nuclear Furniture contributed significantly to some internal band disputes. Paul Kantner, the last remaining original member, was upset about the band's drift from its psychedelic and quasi-radical roots to a more conventional rock sound. This disagreement led Kantner to leave the group after the album's release, leading the remaining members to continue as Starship. Despite the internal turmoil, the album was a success, reaching number 28 on the Billboard album charts.
