Curved Air

"Lovechild" is a 1990 album by the British progressive rock band Curved Air. It was recorded in 1973 but remained unreleased until 1990. Despite having been recorded during the band's mainstream career, "Lovechild" is considered somewhat of an anomalous Curved Air album, as it was produced without the full band. Vocalist Sonja Kristina and drummer Florian Pilkington-Miksa are the only original band members who appear on the record. The band's lineup for this album was rounded out by musicians Mike Wedgwood, Kirby Gregory, and Eddie Jobson. The album is notable for its blend of rock and classical influences, with the inclusion of various string arrangements. Several of the songs from the album, such as "Exsultate Jubilate" and "My Only Friend," highlight the band's progressive style and the strong vocals of Kristina. The release of "Lovechild" occurred 17 years after it was recorded, due to the band breaking up a short time after the album's production. Despite its belated release, "Lovechild" demonstrates Curved Air's innovation and musical range, providing fans with a final glimpse of the band in its prime.
