"Face Up," released on June 20, 2001, is Lisa Stansfield's fifth solo studio album. It came after a four-year gap following her 1997 self-titled album. For Face Up, Stansfield collaborated with her husband, Ian Devaney, and Richard Darbyshire, co-writing the songs, with Devaney handling the production.
The album received favorable reviews, with critics highlighting its funky and soulful tracks as well as its innovative incorporation of 2-step garage beats, particularly in the first single, Let's Just Call It Love. Although the disco-tinged second single, 8-3-1, was pulled from release at the last minute, the album still managed to achieve moderate chart success, reaching the top forty in several European countries.
Face Up was re-released in 2014 as a deluxe 2CD + DVD set in the UK on November 10 and in Europe on November 21, providing fans with additional content and a refreshed look at the album's significance in Stansfield's discography.
