Chase

Bill Chase's debut album "Chase" is a noteworthy example of jazz-rock fusion. Bill Chase, already renowned for his trumpet skills, formed the band by bringing together three other experienced trumpet players and vocalist Terry Richards. This fusion of jazz and rock was quite innovative at the time, reflecting a growing trend of blending different musical styles. The album was recorded in Chicago in late 1970 and released in April 1971. One of the standout tracks, "Get It On," achieved considerable commercial success. It spent thirteen weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching a peak position of #24. This success contributed significantly to the album's sales, which exceeded 400,000 copies—a remarkable feat for a jazz-oriented release. In addition to its success in the U.S., the single "Get It On" also made an impact internationally, peaking at #76 in Australia. The album itself enjoyed a respectable chart presence, staying on the Billboard charts for a total of 26 weeks and peaking at #22. This success underscored the band's ability to bridge jazz and rock in a way that resonated with a wide audience.
