"Foxbase Alpha" is the debut studio album by English band Saint Etienne, released on September 16, 1991, by Heavenly Recordings.
The album features a blend of club culture and house music influences from the early 1990s, combined with the band's love for 1960s pop. It incorporates samples from films and short tracks that bridge the songs. Notably, Sarah Cracknell was not fully involved in the recording of the album, and the track Only Love Can Break Your Heart was sung by Moira Lambert.
Foxbase Alpha was nominated for the 1992 Mercury Prize and achieved commercial success with several singles, including Nothing Can Stop Us. The album was also included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die, highlighting its lasting impact and significance in music history.
