Saint Etienne

"Tiger Bay" is the third studio album by English indie dance band Saint Etienne, released on February 28, 1994, by Heavenly Records. The title of the album references the 1959 film "Tiger Bay," as noted by band member Bob Stanley. Stanley described the album as "an album of modern folk songs done in twentieth-century styles like techno and dub." For example, "Like a Motorway" combines Kraftwerk-style techno with melodies from the traditional folk song "Silver Dagger." Some tracks, such as "Marble Lions" and "Former Lover," shift away from electronic elements in favor of classical folk instrumentation and orchestral arrangements. Additionally, "Western Wind" is a traditional English folk song featured on the album.
