Pretty Things

"Silk Torpedo" is the seventh album by the English rock band Pretty Things, released in 1974. It is notable for being the band's second album without Wally Waller, who had been with them since 1967 as a rhythm guitarist and bassist. The album features a distinct glam rock style, contrasting sharply with their earlier R&B and psychedelic periods. This shift in musical direction aligns with the glam rock trends of the early 1970s. Silk Torpedo was the first album by the band to be released in the UK on the Swan Song Records label, which was established by Led Zeppelin. The album also represents the band's second rock opera, following their influential S.F. Sorrow from 1968. It follows the story of an unnamed protagonist through significant points in his life. Due to limited commentary from the band, the narrative of Silk Torpedo remains somewhat ambiguous and open to interpretation.
