Pretty Things

"The Pretty Things" is the self-titled debut album by the English rock band Pretty Things, released in 1965. The album was released with different track listings in the United Kingdom and the United States. It showcased the band's raw and energetic sound, which was heavily influenced by American rock and roll, particularly the style of musician Bo Diddley. This debut effort marked the beginning of The Pretty Things' influential career in the rock and rhythm and blues genres. For their debut album, Fontana Records initially booked two days of recording sessions with The Pretty Things. However, just 30 minutes into the first session, the original producer, Jack Baverstock, who was also the head of the label, quit due to the band's behavior and issues related to alcoholism. To salvage the sessions, Bobby Graham, a more sympathetic producer, was brought in to replace Baverstock. Despite this rocky start, the album was completed and showcased the band's raw and energetic sound.
