Quicksilver Messenger Service

"Solid Silver" is the eighth studio album by American psychedelic rock band Quicksilver Messenger Service, released in 1975. This album represents a mid-1970s comeback for the band, notable for several reasons: Solid Silver marked the reunion of the band's original core lineup. This was significant as it brought together the members who had defined the band's classic sound during their earlier, more influential years. The album managed to chart slightly higher than their previous two releases, briefly entering the Top 100 on the Billboard 200. While it did not achieve significant commercial success, it demonstrated a resurgence in interest in the band. Solid Silver continued the band's exploration of psychedelic rock and blues, with contributions from key members such as John Cipollina, David Freiberg, and Dino Valenti. The album featured a mix of new material and the band's classic sound, aiming to recapture some of their former glory. Despite the modest success of Solid Silver, it was the last album released by the band for several years. Quicksilver Messenger Service would not release another studio album until Gary Duncan revived the band name in 1986 with Peace by Piece. The band continued to release new material intermittently in the 1990s. Solid Silver holds a place in Quicksilver Messenger Service's history as a comeback effort that reunited the classic lineup and attempted to reconnect with fans after a period of decline.
