Quicksilver Messenger Service

"What About Me" is the fifth studio album by American psychedelic rock band Quicksilver Messenger Service, released in December 1970. This album marks the end of an era for the band, being the last to feature pianist Nicky Hopkins and the final pre-reunion effort to include founding members David Freiberg and John Cipollina. The album was recorded partly during the same sessions that produced their previous album, Just for Love. Several tracks from What About Me had been part of the band's live set throughout 1970, including "Baby Baby," "Subway," and "Long Haired Lady," giving fans a preview of the album's content. What About Me continued the band's commercial success, reaching number 29 on the Billboard 200, making it their fourth and final album to hit the Top 30. The single "What About Me" reached number 100 on the Billboard Hot 100. Despite the band's shifting lineup and changing musical landscape, the album maintained their popularity, buoyed in part by the minor hit "Fresh Air" from their previous release.
